The Victoria Cross
The Victoria Cross (VC) is the highest and most prestigious military decoration awarded to British soldiers. It recognizes acts of extraordinary bravery in the face of the enemy and has achieved an almost legendary status, with recipients honored as true heroes.
During the Battle of Arnhem, five Victoria Crosses were awarded to exceptionally brave soldiers:
- Lieutenant John Hollington Grayburn
- Flight Lieutenant David Samuel Anthony Lord
- Captain Lionel Ernest Queripel
- Lance-Sergeant John Daniel Baskeyfield
- Major Robert Henry Cain
