Battle of Arnhem walking and cycling tours NEW DATA 2019

This year, in 2019, we will commemorate 75 years of the Battle of Arnhem.

Operation Market Garden (17-25 September 1944) was a failed Allied military operation planned and mainly led by the British, and was fought in the Netherlands and Germany during the Second World War. The success of the operation depended on a series of nine bridges, the last one in the city of Arnhem across the Rhine. Airborne and army forces succeeded in liberating the Dutch cities of Eindhoven and Nijmegen, but failed to retain their furthest positions in and around the city of Arnhem, including the bridge over the Rhine.

During these 2 hour walking and cycling tours, a local guide will show you the most important locations of the Battle of Arnhem. Our guide also tells interesting stories about life during the war, personal stories of residents and soldiers.

Highlights:

Zwarteweg (with bicycle tour)
St. Elisabeths Gasthuis
Eusebius Church
Battle of Arnhem information center
John Frost Bridge

The starting location is in front of restaurant Happy Italy  (near Arnhem Central Station), Oude Stationsstraat 4 in Arnhem.

The duration is approximately 2 to 2,5 hours depending on the group size.
